Catching Up!

Well, so much has been going on since I started this blog. I was going to try to post every month, but I thought that my life was too boring. Oh well!

Let's see...August...Sarah turned 13! I can't believe she is a teenager now. DJ and I started back at college. I went back full-time this semester so I could finish up my 2 year degree quicker.

September...Pretty uneventful...you know how life goes sometimes.

October...DJ turned 20! My little boy is growing up! Jay and I celebrated our 21st wedding anniversary.

November...Now here is where things start to pick up! I started a new job working for Oswego County Opportunities as a Community Specialist. Basically, I work with homeless teens as a paid mom. I take them to appointments, and help the Case Specialists that are assigned to them get their needs met. I really like this job. So, I was working this job, working at Mental Health, AND going to school full-time. My boss at the new job was really cool about me going to school and letting me flex my schedule.

Also, my dad, stepmom and sister came up from Virginia for Thanksgiving! It was great! I hadn't seen them in a few years, and it was so great to be together as a family! Unfortunately, my brother had to work and couldn't make it up, so I drove everyone down to see him in Norwich. It really was a great visit! Our Thanksgiving dinner was a bit...umm...different. My daughter had decided to comandeer the oven for one of her famous cheesecakes, so I was unable to cook the 23 lb. Turkey until 4:00. The Turkey was not done until after 9pm. Since we were having our dinner on Friday, I was able to save the day by ordering pizza and wings. So, we had pizza, wings, Turkey (eventually), and cheesecake for Thanksgiving dinner!

December...Let's just skip right to Christmas...Christmas was fabulous this year! We had Christmas Eve at my Aunt and Uncle's house like we do every year. Christmas day was spent at home with all of our kids about us. We had a wonderful dinner, and some of the kids' friends came over. It was so wonderful! Every once in a while, Jay and I get a little melancholy knowing that someday we won't have all of the kids home together with us for the holidays. So, we make the most of it for now.

Today Jay and Sarah went to the Syracuse Nationals, one of the biggest car shows in the East. They had a great time. The high point of Sarah's day was meeting Adam West and Julie Newmar. The actors were at a table giving out autographs and selling pictures (they would have had to pay like $20 for each). Sarah asked Adam West to sign her program, he started to pick on her by asking her for her driver's license. Sarah looked at Jay and asked for his. Adam West says "No, I need YOUR license." They got a chuckle out of it, and he signed her program. When it came time to speak to Julie Newmar, let's just say she wasn't quite as receptive unless you forked over money for her autograph or picture. But Sarah was thrilled, to meet the voice behind "Mayor West" from "Family Guy", and "TVs Adam West" and "Cat Man" from "Fairly Odd Parents". She has also seen the old "Bat Man" show from the 60s, and is a huge fan of that as well.

Welcome to the Lamb Fambily Blog. I will start out by giving a little history of our family. My husband, Jay and I were married on October 22, 1988. That's right, nearly 21 years ago. Nothing to sneeze at these days, huh? We have three wonderful children; DJ who is 19 and attending SUNY Canton for a degree in criminal justice, Marikate is 16 and going into her junior year of high school, and Sarah is 12 and going into the 8th grade.

Jay has been employed at Huhtamaki in Fulton, NY since 1990. He is a line mechanic there and was just promoted to Master Mechanic this week! He is the world's greatest father! He adores his kids and they adore him right back. They have given him the nickname "Gruesome", but they say it with love. Even their friends call him that.

I have been employed at Oswego Hospital Behavioral Services for about six years. Right now I am working part-time as an intreatment secretary. I am currently attending Cayuga Community College to attain a two-year degree in psychology. I eventually plan on going on to my Master's Degree in psychology in order to become a psycho-therapist.

Our family is very tight and close. We rely on each other and gain strength from each other. We also seem to attract everyone else's kids. It is not unusual to come to our house and find several random teenagers here when our kids aren't even home. This seems to be a "Happy Place" for many.
